JOOST KLEIN

Joost Klein, born on November 10, 1997, in Leeuwarden, Friesland, Netherlands, is a Dutch musician, rapper, singer, and former YouTuber. He grew up in the nearby village of Britsum. Tragically, Joost lost his father to cancer at the age of 12 and his mother to cardiac arrest a year later. Following these events, he was raised by his older brother and sister. 

Rise to Fame on YouTube

Joost began his online career in 2008 by creating a YouTube channel under the username Klikobak50. He later gained prominence with his channel EenhoornJoost, where he uploaded a variety of content, including sketches and mini-documentaries. His unique blend of humor and creativity garnered a substantial following, laying the foundation for his future endeavors in the entertainment industry. 

Transition to Music

In 2016, Joost shifted his focus to music, releasing his debut extended play titled "Dakloos." His music is characterized by a fusion of genres, including hip-hop, electronic, indie rock, and gabber. Over the years, he has released several albums, such as "Albino," "1983," and "Fryslân," showcasing his versatility as an artist. Notably, his single "Friesenjung," a collaboration with German rapper Ski Aggu and comedian Otto Waalkes, achieved significant success in Germany and Austria. 

Eurovision 2024 and "Europapa"

In 2024, Joost was selected to represent the Netherlands at the Eurovision Song Contest with his song "Europapa." The track, an homage to his late father and a celebration of European unity, quickly gained popularity. However, Joost was disqualified from the contest's final due to an alleged backstage incident. Despite this setback, "Europapa" achieved commercial success, topping charts in multiple countries and becoming the most streamed song of Eurovision 2024 on Spotify and YouTube. 

Recent Projects and Collaborations

Following Eurovision, Joost continued to expand his musical repertoire. He released singles like "Luchtballon," which samples Richard Marx's "Right Here Waiting," and "Trafik!," a collaboration with Finnish rapper Käärijä. In 2025, he released his ninth studio album, "Unity," featuring tracks such as "Filthy Dog" and "Why Not???." The album reflects his experiences and emotions, blending energetic beats with introspective lyrics.
